Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Blade Scorecard (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application (“App”).
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- —Account information: Email address and password (or Apple ID when using Sign in with Apple), and a chosen username.
- —Profile information: Golf handicap index and username displayed to other users.
- —Golf data: Rounds played, scores per hole, courses, tee selections, and club bag configuration.
- —Shot markers: GPS coordinates of individual shots you mark on the course map.
- —Social data: Friend connections you initiate by username search. Friendship requests and acceptances are stored.
Information collected automatically
- —Location data: When you use the shot marker or course map features, we collect your precise GPS coordinates. Location is only accessed while the App is in use. We do not track your location in the background.
- —Weather data: When you start a round, we fetch current weather conditions from the OpenWeatherMap API using your approximate location. No personal data is sent to OpenWeatherMap.
- —Crash and error reports: We use Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports and error logs. These reports do not include personally identifiable information.
- —Device information: Standard device metadata (OS version, device model) may be collected as part of crash reporting.
Photos
If you use any profile photo or image upload feature, the App requests access to your photo library or camera. Photos are only accessed when you explicitly initiate an upload. Images you upload are stored in our cloud storage (Supabase Storage).
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- —Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- —Store and display your golf rounds, scores, and statistics.
- —Enable social features: finding friends by username, sharing rounds, and displaying a friends’ leaderboard.
- —Display weather conditions recorded at the start of your rounds.
- —Improve the App by diagnosing crashes and errors via Sentry.
- —Provide map and shot-tracking features using your location data.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
With other users (by your choice)
- —Username: Visible to other users when they search for you to send a friend request.
- —Rounds and scores: Visible to your accepted friends via the leaderboard/feed. Rounds are not visible to non-friends.
With third-party service providers
Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. We apply row-level security policies so that users can only access their own data and the rounds of accepted friends. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted device storage (expo-secure-store).
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data, rounds, and scores will be deleted from our database. Some anonymized data may be retained in crash logs for a limited period.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- —Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- —Correction: Request that inaccurate data be corrected.
- —Deletion: Request that your account and associated data be deleted.
- —Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- —Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
EU/EEA residents (GDPR)
Our legal basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (providing the App service) and your consent (location access, optional features). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Location Permissions
The App requests location access only when you use location-dependent features (shot markers, course maps). You can revoke location permission at any time in your device Settings. Revoking location access will disable GPS-based features but will not affect your ability to log scores manually.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
